The batsman who scored more runs than ‘Trimurti’ alone will not go to Bangladesh; Will the preparation for the World Cup be like this?

India has to go on Bangladesh tour after New Zealand
3 ODI series will be played between the two countries
Player who scored more runs than Virat-Rohit will not go to Bangladesh

New Delhi. Like the T20 series between India and New Zealand, the weather is not looking kind in ODIs as well. The second ODI played in Hamilton was washed away in the rain. Only 12.5 overs could be played in the match. In this, India scored 89 runs at the loss of 1 wicket. Shubman Gill once again started the innings with captain Shikhar Dhawan. Even though Dhawan got out early. But, Gill played an inning of 45 runs in 42 balls. Had it not rained, perhaps another half-century would have been added to Gill’s account. But, this could not happen. Well, now in Christchurch he will have a chance to do just that.

Interestingly, Gill’s place in the ODI team is also not confirmed despite his consistent performance. He is able to play only in the absence of Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan or any senior player. India has to go to Bangladesh for 3 ODI series after New Zealand tour. The first ODI is to be played on 4 December. But, Rohit Sharma will return to the team for this tour. Apart from them, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul will also return to the team. For this reason, despite playing 50 in the first ODI against New Zealand and 45 not out in the second, Gill has not been included in the ODI team selected for the Bangladesh tour. This decision is beyond comprehension. Because India has to play ODI World Cup in October-November next year and only 11 months are left in it.

In such a situation, the batsman who is running in form and has scored consecutive runs in ODIs this year. The same batsman is not being given a chance in the team after performing well in a series. In which direction is the preparation for the ODI World Cup going? It is very difficult to understand this.

Gill scored more runs this year than ‘Trimurti’
In cricket, any bowler and batsman is judged only in terms of runs and wickets. If we look at this scale, then Shubman Gill is seen heavy on Team India’s trinity i.e. Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul. Gill is the second highest run-scorer for India in ODIs in 2022. He has so far scored 625 runs in 11 matches at an average of 78. He has scored a century and 4 half-centuries. Even though Dhawan has 642 runs more than Gill. But, for this he has played 18 matches against Gill’s 11. His average is also less than Gill.

inconceivable to keep Gill out
At the same time, this year Rohit-Rahul and Virat together have less runs than Gill (625) in ODIs. Rohit-Virat and KL Rahul together have scored a total of 502 runs in ODIs in 2022. That is, on the basis of statistics, Gill has the upper hand. In such a situation, if the batsman who is in color, is performing well continuously, if he has to sit out because of the senior player coming in the team, then it is not justified in any case. At least, not when the senior player’s bat is silent, but, he is being picked on the basis of past performances and that too with less than a year left in the ODI World Cup. And Team India has seen the result of experiments in T20 World Cup.
