New Delhi. The Pakistan team for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup has also been announced. Many players, including Shaheen Shah Afridi, have returned to the green team for the upcoming prestigious tournament. At the same time, many players have been shown the way out. Ever since the Pakistan team has been announced for the T20 World Cup, former players from the neighboring country have been sharing their views on the 15-member team. In this episode, former Pakistan captain Mohammad Hafeez has also shared his views on the players selected for the upcoming tournament.
The former Pakistan captain has raised questions on the middle order. The two players he has targeted the most are the lower order players Khushdil Shah and Asif Ali. He believes that both these players have failed in grooming the innings. He says that both these players do not believe in grooming the innings and both of them are players with one-dimensional (same quality).
Talking about Khushdil Shah, Hafeez said, his strike rate is 110, and we see him as an international hitter, which is not right. We should go deep in such a situation. Apart from this, he has also questioned the ability of the middle order to not handle pressure.
Mohammad Hafeez believes that we need to ask ourselves whether the selected players have the ability to bear the pressure? Can he fix the innings? We have picked these players because our top order takes time to set up, which is very funny.
Hafeez says Rizwan and Babar are the number one openers, but they have to show their hunger to score runs. I have appreciated these batsmen in the past too, but if there is any aspect that these two batsmen need to work on it is to get them to score runs at a fast pace.
He argued that even if you play the first powerplay, and score 60-65 runs in the first 10 overs, then how will it work. If you bat like this in the opening quarters, the middle order batsmen will have to score 12-14 runs per over in the remaining overs, which doesn’t seem logical.
