Our constitution ended the discrimination of small, rich and poor, white-black, caste and religion, gender by giving equal rights to every citizen of India. Since 1930, the revolutionaries of India want to make India a constitution country. After independence, in a meeting held on 28 August 1947, a Drafting Committee was asked to draft a permanent constitution of India.
on 4 November 1947 Indian Constitution The draft was prepared and it was placed in the meeting chaired by BR Ambedkar. It took almost three years to fully prepare it and finally the waiting time was over with its implementation on 26 January 1950.
On 26 January 1950, our country India was declared a sovereign, secular, socialist and democratic, republic, which means that India is now independent and will not be ruled by any outside power. With this announcement, the flag was hoisted at Delhi’s Rajpath.
Today the Republic Day is celebrated with great pomp and fanfare. On this day the tricolor is hoisted everywhere, as well as the President hoists the tricolor at the Red Fort in Delhi. Republic is the supreme power of the people living in the country and only the people have the right to choose their representatives as political leaders to take the country in the right direction. So India is a republic where people like their leader as prime minister.
Friends, to achieve the freedom that we have got, many revolutionaries have sacrificed their lives. There was a time when India was under British slavery. But today India is an independent country. That is why it is our duty not to spoil anything of our freedom. Support you in the development of India and make it a developed country.
Thanks Jai Hind Jai Bharat,
Republic Day Speech in Hindi [500 Words]
Gantantra Divas Par Bhashan: Good morning to everyone present here on the rich occasion of Republic Day. Republic Day is celebrated every year on 26 January, this year India will celebrate its 73rd Republic Day.
Republic Day is celebrated to commemorate the historic moment when our nation became an independent republic. We all know that India got independence on 15th August 1947 and the country did not have its own constitution, instead India was governed by the laws enforced by the British. However, after several discussions and amendments, the committee headed by Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar presented the draft of the Constitution of India, which was adopted on 26 November 1997 and officially came into force on 26 January 1950.
On this day Dr. Rajendra Prasad also started his term as the first President of India. And the Constituent Assembly became the Parliament of India under the provisions of the new constitution.
Since independence, Republic Day is celebrated in the presence of the President, Prime Minister and other top Indian officials at Rajpath in the national capital New Delhi.
As a tribute to India, a ceremonial parade takes place on the Rajpath on Republic Day. The ceremony begins from the gate of Rashtrapati Bhavan and then passes through the Raisi Hill Indian Gate on the Rajpath which is the main attraction on Republic Day. The ceremonial parade is followed by various dignitaries like the President, Prime Minister and other top government officials at the Rajpath.
As part of the celebrations every year, India hosts honored guests who can be heads of state or government from other countries to celebrate Republic Day in the capital. This is the case since 1950, for example, on 26 January 2015, former US President Barack Obama was the guest of honor on Republic Day. Unfortunately, due to the Covid outbreak, there will be no guests for the 73rd Republic Day celebrations.
The flag hoisting ceremony at the national capital’s Rajpath mostly takes place at 8 am, followed by the Republic Day speech by the President and the Republic Day parade.
The Republic Day march is considered to be an attractive element of the festival and reflects the Indian cultural and social heritage. It also showcases the Indian defense capabilities. Nine to twelve different regiments of the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force marched with their bands in all their official decorations. The President of India, who is the Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Armed Forces, takes the salute.
The heroes and soldiers of our country cannot be forgotten on this prestigious occasion. The prestigious awards will be given to those martyrs and heroes who have dedicated their lives for the defense of the country at any cost.
Republic Day is celebrated with great enthusiasm and energy in every school, college and office. Various competitions are organized in schools including dance, singing and Republic Day speech.
But apart from all this the Constitution declares that India is a sovereign, socialist, secular and democratic republic. It guarantees justice, equality, liberty and fraternity to its citizens. It also gives us our rights and duties as citizens. On this Republic Day I hope that whoever we are rich or poor, powerful politicians or regular citizens, we will continue to respect these fundamental principles and values given by our wonderful constitution. So that, as we move forward and continue to build this nation, we must not leave behind the foundation upon which our country is built.
I would like to end this speech by saying that India is a democratic country. Citizens living in a democratic country have the privilege to choose their leader to lead the country.
We have seen a lot of economic reforms and successes as a country, yet there are many obstacles in our way – poverty, unemployment, pollution and last two years – covid. It is our duty as citizens to face these challenges and stand firm on the other side.
So one thing we all can do is promise each other that we will be a better version of ourselves so that we can contribute to solve all these problems and make our country a better place. Thank you, Jai Hind.
How Republic Day came into existence?
After India’s independence on 15 August 1947, India did not have its own constitution. On 29 August 1947, a resolution was introduced to appoint a Drafting Committee (which was elected by the elected members of the Provincial Assembly) to draft a permanent constitution. Dr. BR Ambedkar was appointed the chairman of the 308-member committee.
The assembly met for 166 days, 11 months and 18 days in a period of two years before the constitution was authorized. These sessions were open to the public. After several deliberations and changes, the Assembly signed two handwritten copies of the document, one each in Hindi and in English, on 24 January 1950.
Two days later, on 26 January 1950, it came into force as the Constitution of India. On this day Dr. Rajendra Prasad also became the first President of the Indian Union as his term started on that day. Apart from this, under the transitional provisions of the new constitution, the Constituent Assembly became the Parliament of India.
Therefore, when India celebrates its independence from British rule on 15 August 1947 as Independence Day, it celebrates Republic Day on 26 January, as the Constitution came into force on this day.
