The state government can decide on the guidelines in a meeting with technical experts chaired by the health and disaster management ministers.
Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Sunday said, “Health and Disaster Management Ministers (K. Sudhakar and R. Ashok respectively) will discuss, several instructions have come from the Center and the state government will take some action after analyzing the factual position on the spread of the infection.” There is a need to take a decision.
He told reporters here that there is no need to worry unnecessarily, but awareness is necessary. He said, “Keeping in mind the international impact (related to Kovid) on the country and the state in the past, a decision on guidelines will also be taken in Monday’s meeting.” Technical experts will also participate in the meeting.
Karnataka on Thursday decided to make masks mandatory in closed campuses. Also, mandatory testing has been ordered in all cases of influenza-like illness and severe respiratory illness, even if they do not have any symptoms of infection.
In Chikkaballapura, Minister Sudhakar said that he and Disaster Management Minister Ashok would hold a meeting to analyze the situation of Kovid-19.
The minister said that he cannot say that the new steps or guidelines will come into force from tomorrow itself. “We have called the meeting to ensure that a situation like the first and second wave does not recur and take precautionary measures,” he said.
He said that wearing masks in crowded places, taking booster doses and maintaining social distance as much as possible are some of the measures that can be followed by the citizens. He said, “We have to live with Kovid-19 and we have learned this lesson for the last two-three years.”
