A major road accident took place in Poonch district of Jammu division on Wednesday. The minibus fell victim to an accident at Savjian near the India-Pakistan Line of Control in Mandi tehsil of the district. 11 people have died in this accident, while 25 people are said to be injured. As soon as the information about the accident was received, the army and police personnel started the rescue operation with the help of local people. The injured have been taken to the nearest hospital.
According to the information, a mini bus going from Gali Maidan to Poonch crashed into the ditch near the border area of Savjiyan. In this accident 11 people have died and 25 people are injured. There were 36 people in the mini bus. The injured have been admitted to the nearest hospital. Officials said a joint rescue operation by the army, police and local villagers is on at the spot.
Lt Governor expressed grief
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has expressed deep grief over the Poonch road accident. He announced Rs 5 lakh to the next of kin of the deceased. He said, ‘Saddened by the death in a road accident in Savjian of Poonch. Condolences to the bereaved families. I wish speedy recovery to the injured. Police and civil officials have been directed to provide all possible treatment to the injured. Five lakh rupees will be given to help the kin of the deceased.
