Even before starting his presidency, PM Narendra Modi made it clear that India will promote the universal spirit of unity in the world during this period. He again said that this is not the era of war. India has become the chairman of G-20 from Thursday till November next year. Today the world is looking at India with hope, so it is not just like that. Whether it is the case of Corona vaccination or the situation after Russia’s attack on Ukraine, India’s status on the global stage has continuously increased. India is continuously raising voice on behalf of developing and poor countries.
Modi has said that India will determine its G-20 priorities in consultation with fellow countries in the southern part of the world, whose views are often ignored. India’s status has also increased because it has always kept its focus on economic and human development while protecting itself from the politics of superpowers. Today, when many countries of the world are surrounded by recession, then India is going to achieve a growth of about seven percent in this financial year. India has shown global leadership in the fight against climate change. But he has taken over the presidency of G-20 at a time when the world is going through a tremendous crisis. Of the 19 member countries of the G-20, three have an inflation rate of more than 10 percent, while in 7 it is between 7.5 and 10 percent.
Due to the Ukraine war, the condition of energy and food chain has also worsened at this time. That is why Prime Minister Modi has appealed for talks to stop the war in Ukraine. In the last G-20 meeting held in Bali, China finally had to say the same thing, which PM Modi had started saying from the Shanghai Cooperation Summit itself and which was understood by Russia at the Valdai Forum. It was only because of India’s efforts in the Bali Summit that a joint statement could be issued. During the presidency of G-20, India has a chance to set the global agenda and the government’s plan seems to be the same.
It has already become the fifth largest economic power in the world and before the end of this decade, China will be the third largest economy after the US. That’s why there is no doubt that the world will listen carefully to India. Due to its independent foreign policy, its credibility has been built for decades and it has become stronger here. India has also made it clear what will be its priority during the presidency of G-20. PM Modi has expressed his intention to try for the welfare of the entire humanity. This has also been the tradition of India giving the mantra of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.
