The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) on Wednesday demolished a three-storey residential building of an alleged female drug smuggler. The woman was recently arrested. This information was provided by officers. Officials said 52-year-old Aminabanu Pathan, a resident of Kalupur area of Ahmedabad, was arrested by the city police’s Special Operations Group on August 24 with 31 grams of narcotic MD worth Rs 3.31 lakh.
The recently constructed building was spread over an area of 180 square meters in Dariyapur locality of the city, the AMC said in a release. He said that it was dropped because it was illegal.
He said, “The AMC had given three notices to the owners in January and February. The building was sealed in February. The corporation had in March demanded a police force to demolish the property. After getting confirmation about police deployment, the building was demolished today.
Sources said that as per AMC records the original owners of the illegal building were two brothers, but the authorities came to know from the police that the arrested drug smuggler Aminabanu Pathan had invested money in the building, which was constructed without the permission of the corporation. .
