Goa Congress: Congress is trying to break our MLAs, Michael Lobo removed from the post of Leader of Opposition

hear the news

After the Maharashtra crisis, now there are reports of break in Congress MLAs in Goa. It is being told that nine MLAs of the party may join the BJP. Congress has 11 MLAs in Goa. If 9 MLAs join BJP then Congress will be left with only two MLAs. Meanwhile, Congress showed strictness and immediately removed Michael Lobo from the post of Leader of Opposition (LoP) of Goa.

AICC Goa in-charge Dinesh Gundu Rao said that some of our leaders had conspired with BJP to weaken the Congress party in Goa and attempt to defection. This conspiracy was led by our own two leaders LOP Michael Lobo and Digambar Kamat.

AICC Goa in-charge told that these two people were working together with BJP. Digambar Kamat has many cases registered against him, so he did this to protect himself and Michael Lobo took this step for power and position. We will soon elect a new leader. Action will be taken against this type of defection, whichever is appropriate for the purpose of law and anti-party work. Let’s see how many people will stay or go. We have five MLAs here and we are in touch with many MLAs and they will be with us.

Dinesh Gundu Rao said that the Congress party will not be disappointed or weak. We will take up this issue more aggressively. We will convey this betrayal by two people for power and personal gain.

Earlier, Goa Legislative Assembly Speaker Ramesh Tavdkar on Sunday canceled the notification announcing the election for the post of Deputy Speaker. Voting was to be held on July 12 during the upcoming monsoon assembly session. Legislature Secretary Namrata Ulman said that the notification issued on July 8 under Rule 308 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Goa Legislative Assembly stands withdrawn.

The order said that the notice of nomination for the election of Deputy Speaker issued under 9(2) of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business of Goa Legislative Assembly is also withdrawn. All honorable members note this. No nomination will be accepted for the above election. The two-week long assembly session will begin on Monday. The withdrawal comes amid rumors that a group of Congress MLAs may be joining the BJP.

Goa’s desk in-charge Dinesh Gundu reacted
Earlier, many senior leaders, including Goa’s desk in-charge Dinesh Gundu Rao, dismissed the speculation that many Congress MLAs coming to power in Goa and joining the BJP had termed it as a complete rumour. Congress leaders also said that Saturday’s meeting with 11 party MLAs at a hotel in Panaji had nothing to do with the estimate. The meeting was held ahead of the Monsoon session of the Legislative Assembly that begins on Monday.

Eight out of 11 MLAs are new: Amit Patkar
On the other hand, State Congress President Amit Patkar said that eight out of our 11 MLAs are new. A meeting was held today (in the House) on floor management. Our senior MLAs had discussions with the new MLAs, and I hope from Monday you will see that the Congress is raising public issues (in the House) against this government, which has failed.

I can confirm myself, can’t say for anyone else: Alexo Sequeira
Congress MLA Alexo Sequeira said that I was not called by the high command, only came here for a courtesy meeting. On the rumor about the breakup of the MLAs, he said that I can confirm myself, cannot ask for anyone else.
