From Friday, all adults across the country will be able to get a free booster dose of the coronavirus vaccine at government centers for the next 75 days as part of a special drive. The campaign will be organized as part of the government’s ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations to mark the 75th anniversary of India’s independence.
So far, only less than 1 percent of the 77 crore population in the age group of 18-59 have been given a booster dose. However, news agency PTI quoted an official as saying that around 26 per cent of the estimated 160 million population aged 60 years and above as well as healthcare and frontline workers have been administered booster doses.
How to register for booster dose?
1- All eligible beneficiaries https://selfregistration.cowin.gov.in/ You can login or register yourself through Aarogya Setu App. Beneficiaries have to enter the OTP received on the mobile number.
2- According to the government, registration can be done by self-registration through the existing account on the family member’s CoWin or by creating a new account through a mobile number.
3- Once the registration/sign in is complete, the beneficiary’s identity card needs to be updated under the new category on the CoWin homepage. Aadhar can be used for identity proof. Apart from this, EPIC, passport, driving license, PAN card, smart card issued by RGI under NPR and pension document with photo can be used for identity proof.
4- After this you will get a date through SMS and on that day you can go to the concerned government center and get a booster dose of corona.
According to government data, 96 percent of India’s population has been given the first dose of the Kovid vaccine, while 87 percent of the eligible people have been given the second dose. From April 10 this year, India has started giving booster doses of COVID-19 vaccines to all people above the age of 18 years.
On the introduction of the booster dose, Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said, “All the employees of the Health Ministry started free dose vaccination. My appeal to all citizens above 18 years of age is to get a free dose to ensure your safety from Corona.
