New Delhi. Bangladesh cricket team fast bowler Rubel Hossain has retired from Test cricket. But, he will continue to play limited overs cricket. The reason Rubel has given behind retiring from Test cricket is very noble. He has decided to say goodbye to Test cricket with the intention of giving a chance to the young players.

The 32-year-old pacer has played 27 Tests since making his debut against the West Indies in 2009. He has taken a total of 36 wickets in Tests. His best performance was 5 wickets for 166 runs. Rubel failed to make an impact in the Test. But, his performance in limited overs cricket was good. Rubel took 129 wickets in 104 ODIs while he had 28 wickets in T20Is.

Rubel wrote on the Facebook account, I have decided to retire from red ball cricket with the intention of giving a chance to the youth. Rubel is not part of the Bangladesh team in the T20 World Cup to be held in Australia.

Rubel played the last Test in February 2020 against Pakistan in Rawalpindi. In this match, he took 3 wickets for 113 runs. Since then he has not been able to play Test for Bangladesh. Questions have always been raised about Hussain’s economy rate in Test cricket.

Hussain announced his retirement on his Facebook account. He wrote, ‘I want to inform you that I have informed the Bangladesh Cricket Board about my decision to retire from Test cricket. That is why I have decided to say goodbye to Test cricket to give a chance to the youth.
