Voting is a constitutional right of every adult. But many people are unable to vote due to being away from their homes. But now the Election Commission has come up with such a solution that even people living away from home will be able to vote. In fact, the Election Commission developed a prototype of remote EVM for domestic overseas voters, it can control remote voting in 72 constituencies from a single booth.
Invitation to all parties to show preliminary model of remote EVM on 16 January
According to news agency PTI, the Election Commission has invited all parties to show an initial model of remote EVMs to domestic migrant voters on January 16. At the same time, views of the parties have also been sought on the legal and administrative challenges to implement it.
More than 30 crore voters remain deprived of voting
The Election Commission is worried about the disenfranchisement of more than 30 crore voters. A voter may not return to his home polling station to vote in an election due to a variety of reasons when he moves to a new location. Domestic migrants being unable to vote is a matter of concern.
